Bulletin #3: oneTRANSPORT® Data Marketplace New Service Features
25 March, 2019
It has been over a year now since oneTRANSPORT® Data Marketplace began operating as a commercial service, open to any organisation seeking to share or access data about the real-time operation of UK towns and regions. There is now an established ecosystem of organisations making real-time datasets available via open data licences. Furthermore, there is a growing interest from a number of private sector companies in leveraging a premium pay-per-use data model.
During this time, we have been hard at work further updating the oneTRANSPORT® Data Marketplace Service (https://service.onetransport.io/). In this bulletin, we explain some of the latest features and how they help our customers get more value from the service. These important updates are summarised below.
PRIVATELY SHARE AND CONSUME DATASETS
We have enhanced how customers can share data. Data Publishers can now “Selectively” choose who is able to view and access their data. This is in addition to the other sharing options “Published” (visible in the data catalogue and accessible by other organisations) and “Private” (only visible to people within your organisation).
Provides choice to privately share datasets with select organisations.
CREATE AND CUSTOMISE LICENSES FOR ORGANISATIONS
Data owners use licenses to protect their valuable data. As a data owner, you can now create your own custom license for your datasets. This is in addition to the currently available open data licenses.
Provides data owners more flexibility on how their data should be used.
INCLUDE FREE DATASETS IN THE DATA SUPPLIED/REVENUE REPORT
Free datasets are now included in the Data Supplied/Revenue Report, in addition to paid-for-data. The report provides a breakdown of how all of your organisation’s datasets are being consumed. This enables very powerful insights for data publishers as to which organisations are consuming their free datasets.
Provides visibility in how your free data is being consumed.
MAKE DATA EASIER TO DISCOVER AND MAINTAIN
You can now easily modify the description and title of your dataset on the “Dataset details” page. This improves dataset discoverability and makes it easier to update when data structure changes. This is in addition to the existing ability to edit metadata information, tags and (optionally) pricing information.
Makes your data more discoverable and maintainable.
INCREASED ORGANISATION ADMIN CONTROL OVER DATASETS
Organisation Administrators now have increased control over their organisation’s datasets. They can delete datasets and dataset distributions from “Actions” tab on the “Dataset details” page.
Provides better dataset management capabilities to organisations.
CHECK WHEN ORGANISATION USERS LAST LOGGED-IN
Organisation Administrators can now view when users last successfully logged into the system. This capability enables monitoring of usage and user support.
Provides insight on the system usage and enables proactive support.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like a demonstration of any of these new features, or you would like our guidance on how they can support your own activities.
